Redeem:Cities is an exciting new church planting conference being held on 16 and 17 Nov 2010 in the city of Belfast. We are thrilled that Mark Driscoll and David Stroud will be the main speakers for the weekend, sharing from their own experience and wisdom in this area. Jeremy Simpkins and David Capener expand below.
It’s amazing to think that the first strategically planned Newfrontiers church plants were started over 20 years ago in Canterbury and Eastbourne. Since then so much has happened amongst us as a family of churches, with one of the most exciting things being the huge rise in church planting activity across the UK. It is now unusual for major towns and cities not to have a Newfrontiers church, and many of these are praying for and planning new church plants of their own. There are currently over 14 church plants on the go in the north of the UK alone!
As we’ve looked at our national influence and representation across the UK we found unsurprisingly that we are under represented in two areas: in the most densely populated cities, and in the geographical extremities. It is with the aim of specifically targeting these areas that we are planning a major new church planting conference Redeem:Cities in Belfast 16 and 17 Nov 2010.
Redeem:Cities will be a chance to gather together with leaders, church planters and those interested in hearing more about how the church can transform cities and change nations. We are delighted to have both David Stroud (Christ Church London) and Mark Driscoll (Mars Hill Seattle) as our main speakers. David’s apostolic wisdom and practical ‘hands on’ experience of planting churches mixed with Mark’s passion for churches to be reaching out and reproducing themselves on mission, promises to be an exciting combination. In addition to a number of main sessions there will a selection of excellent seminars and workshops, worship led by Stuart Townend and the opportunity to hear from Tim Chester, co-author of the book Total Church.
The weekend will be a wonderful opportunity to gather together in the great city of Belfast to worship and hear great teaching that will empower and equip as we seek to build missional city changing churches. We are expecting this to be a major influential conference and are sure it will be very popular with the thousands in the UK who follow Mark Driscoll’s downloads. We strongly recommend anyone who has a heart for church planting, those called to stay and be a sending resource, and those called to be part of new churches, to come to the great city of Belfast and join with us for what is promising to be a hugely important conference for our voice to the nation.
Online booking for the conference is now open.
Jeremy Simpkins leads our apostolic team across the North UK and is about to move to Manchester. David Capener leads our new church plant, called Redeemer Central, in Belfast www.redeemercentral.com.
